Baked potato meets bangers and mash in the ultimate comfort-food mash-up!
Made with Gotzinger’s German Bratwurst, this dish is layered with flavour—tangy mustard, hidden melted cheese, and finished with rich onion gravy. Pure classic comfort with a twist.

  • Ingredients

    • Large white potatoes – 4
    • Olive oil – 2tb sp.
    • Salt flakes – to season
    • Salted butter – 5tb sp.
    • Brown onion (sliced) – 1
    • Pre-made gravy (we used the Mingle Seasoning Traditional Gravy sachets) – 340g
    • Gotzinger’s German Bratwurst – 400g
    • Seeded mustard – 4tsp.
    • Shredded tasty cheese – 1 cup
    • Spring onions (sliced) – to garnish
  • Instructions

    • Set the oven to 180°c, fan force.
    • Prick your potatoes all over with a fork.
    • Rub and coat the potatoes with olive oil and salt.
    • Place on a lined tray and bake in the oven for 1 hour.
    • While your potatoes are in the oven prepare the gravy by melting 1tb sp. of butter in a small pot, thenadd the sliced onions. Cook until translucent and soft.
    • Add the gravy to the onions, bring the sauce to low heat and set aside.
    • In a fry pan, on a medium heat, grill the German Bratwurst for 15 minutes – turn regularly. Once heated through, set aside.
    • After 1 hour (or once soft all the way through) remove the potatoes from the oven.
    • The potatoes will be piping hot, so carefully slice down the centre length way creating an opening.
    • Add 1tb sp. of butter inside the potatoes and gently mash it into the soft potato centre.
    • Next add 1tsp. of seeded mustard to the inside of the potato, followed by ¼ cup of shredded cheese then top with the German Bratwurst like a hot dog.
    • Place back in the oven for 10 minutes until the cheese is melted.
    • Meanwhile, place your gravy back on the heat and stir in case it has formed a skin on top.
    • Remove the baked potatoes from the oven and laden with hot gravy and garnish with sliced spring onions.
    • Serve and enjoy!
